Hi, I'm Sonia Rodriguez, Registered Dietitian and owner of Colibri Nutrition Therapy. I'm a San Antonio native and graduate of Ronald Reagan High School. I completed my Bachelors Degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and completed my Masters Degree and Dietetic Internship at The University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
During my time in practice I have had the pleasure of working in a variety of healthcare settings including: clinical nutrition at St. Luke's Baptist Hospital, diabetes care at Diabetes and Glandular Disease Clinic, corporate wellness with Envolve People Care, gastrointestinal nutrition at Gastroenterology Consultants of San Antonio and nutrition therapy for eating disorders at Eating Recovery Center of San Antonio.
Thanks so much for taking the time to consider working with me in your very personal relationship with food. I have chosen to take a weight-neutral and inclusive approach to nutrition counseling which may not be right for everyone, please read on to see if we might be a good fit.
As a Registered Dietitian with over 11 years of practice experience I have largely come to adopt a Health At Every Size and weight-neutral and inclusive approach to counseling. I believe this is the only way for me to provide ethical nutrition counseling.
When we work together we will discuss tools and strategies to support your health and medical conditions as well as your relationship with food and your body.
I do provide evidence based therapeutic diets for people with specific medical conditions, like celiac disease, diabetes, and eating disorders but the goal of these diets is to manage your specific medical or mental health conditions.
I will NOT give you recommendations or restrictive diets for the purpose of weight loss. This also means I am committed to providing the best possible care for people of all body shapes and sizes, and I will never recommend dieting or weight loss as a solution to improve your health. Want to know why? Read more here.
Your journey as it relates to nutrition and health is unique and I will always respect your own lived experiences in your body.
We will explore tools and behaviors that are in line with your goals and values and work together to help you gain confidence in how to best take care of yourself as it relates to food and your body.
Thank you for trusting me with your healthcare needs!
